Exeter Chiefs Rugby Club
Design and Marketing Support
Founded in 1871, Exeter Chiefs are now the 2016-17 Aviva Premiership Rugby Champions – playing in the top level of domestic rugby union in England. They also compete in the Anglo-Welsh Cup and European Champions Cup competitions. Their rise to stardom has been legendary in the sport, having only moved up into the Premiership in 2010 – and we are delighted to welcome them as one of our major new clients.
In 2017, we were asked to share an invitation to tender for the Chiefs’ graphic design services by their serving agency – JJC Design. We prepared a combined response, bringing together ideas based on over 25 years of knowledge, coupled with our fresh creative thinking and additional services – which fully demonstrated our understanding of the club’s marketing challenges, and ultimately resulted in us being selected as the Chiefs’ chosen design partners.
Since the new relationship commenced, we have been designing at a pace, working on numerous projects for different areas of the club. This includes The Trading Post, the official club store; Community Chiefs, whose key focus is to encourage and inspire young players to reach their full potential; and The Exeter Foundation – the Chiefs’ associate civic trust, which is responsible for pursuing the vision of people who live and work in and around Exeter.
Our key focus has been on redesigning Exeter Chiefs’ match day programme – to bring a fresh and more contemporary presentation to this mandatory, yet very collectible, item. We have also developed new email marketing templates, digital adverts, and even designed packaging for a new line of home-made Pork Scratchings! At every step of the way, our goal has been to raise the service delivery expectation of our client – and to ensure that the consistency and integrity of their brand is maintained.
Beyond this, we are also working with Sandy Park – home of the Chiefs, and an award-winning conference, banqueting and events centre in its own right. Sandy Park is the leading conference facility in the South West and plays host to a wide corporate market nationally. Our challenge here is to help them continue this success, and to support their growth strategy through 2018.
