The story of the mighty Chiefs – and how they dared to fly!
Christmas is now in full swing here at Shine, although some of us have been embracing the festive spirit since mid-November. For us, December is a time to reflect on the year gone by, and to look back at some of our highlights – whether that be personal achievements or successes in the workplace. Christmas is about tradition, but it is also a time for making new memories – and for telling stories.
One such story is that of the mighty Chiefs and their fairytale journey to be crowned rugby Champions of the Aviva Premiership, one humid day in May 2017…
But really this unlikely tale begins some years earlier in 2010, on a raucous West Country night where heavy rain lashed the ground and the faces of the Chiefs. And yet they rose triumphantly to the occasion, against all odds – finally achieving their dream of promotion to the top tier of the English club game.
The battle was not over though, as they faced scrutiny and scepticism from those who doubted them – claiming they were not cut out for life in the Premiership. Yet despite being the underdogs, their ‘nothing to lose’ attitude helped the Chiefs prove their worth and firmly secured their place in the competition. It turned out the Premiership really was where they belonged.
Then on that fateful day in 2017, the Chiefs overcame adversity to achieve a glorious victory against the fearsome Wasps – to the sound of thousands of jubilant roars at Twickenham Stadium!
At long last they had been crowned Champions – seven long and gruelling years after they were first promoted to the Premiership. Their ‘work hard, play hard’ ethos had paid off, in a tale where determination and dedication triumphed in the end. A tale that took the Chiefs from Championship to Champions.
This Christmas, we’re delighted to welcome the Chiefs to our client list, and to help them continue their triumphant journey in the next chapter of their story…
After all, it’s not enough to have the feathers. You must dare to fly! And fly they most certainly do.
