Can’t write? No worries, use a ghost!

We have clients in many industries and one thing they all have in common is that they want to raise the profile of their businesses and sometimes themselves – whether that's through opinion piece articles in relevant trade magazine, or through writing their own Blogs.

But what happens if you can’t write? And many people can’t as we know .. . . So when your leading trade mag calls you up and asks for 750 words on what’s going to happen in your industry in 2012, the immediate reaction is to panic and run away! But it doesn’t have to be. Likewise, if one of your new year resolutions is to write a Blog on your website, or even start ‘Twittering’ - with the intention of interacting more regularly with your client base – a lack of ability to string a few words together could see you grinding to a halt on that particular resolution before you even start.

There is an answer, and one which the likes of many celebrities have used over the years in order to write their ‘autobiographies’. Hire a ghost writer! In simple terms, a ghost writer listens to what you want to say, writes it down in note form, and then somehow manages to translate it into perfect prose that sounds like you wrote it. Which in effect you did, just with a bit of help . . .

Has Ickle been moonlighting in Hollywood?

We were shocked this week to be sent a BBC link by one of our clients, which seems to show that Ickle’s loyalty to Shine is not exclusive!

On closer inspection though we discovered it’s not Ickle working under a pseudonym, but instead a very talented Hollywood Jack Russell called Uggie - who is now being considered for an Oscar! But it did set us thinking as to what tricks we might teach our own beloved Jack Russell – so watch this space . . .

Record Results for Toolbank’s 2011 Xmas Campaign

We were thrilled to hear that our client Toolbank has experienced its highest ever sales levels from a Christmas promotion, thanks to the ‘Real Deal’ Campaign which we developed for them last year.

We have worked on this significant campaign for 11 years, initially pitching against a number of other agencies for the first seven years and only losing twice. But we have been lucky enough to work on the project consecutively now for the past four years and our relationship with Toolbank has gone from strength the strength, as has the campaign.

It was great to see that we were still able to come up with something new and exciting for 2011, which would make their retailers enthusiastic about selling Toolbank products and taking part in the Xmas promotion. Final figures showed that the total sales value increased by 20% on 2010, with 15% more orders overall and 34% more pallets of stock being dispatched.

Over 3,000 pallets were sent out as part of the promotion with just under 2,000 customer orders in total, made up of nearly three quarters of a million products - a seriously good result we thought. In fact we’re told that the picking team, which did such an excellent job of getting all the orders ready to send out, walked over 200 miles around the warehouse!
